Day 1 – Adventure in the Heart of Nature
Your journey begins with a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Mamey (also known as Machete Pelao), where you will enjoy lunch before starting a 7.6 km hike through the lush Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to swim in refreshing natural pools before arriving at Adán or Alfredo Camp, where you will spend your first night. Accommodation is typically in beds equipped with mosquito nets and blankets.
Day 2 – Encounter with Indigenous Communities
After an early breakfast, the trek continues through breathtaking mountain landscapes. You will stop for lunch at Wiwa Camp or Mumake Camp and enjoy a refreshing swim in the Buritaca River. Later, you will pass through Mutanyi, a Kogui indigenous village, where your guide will share insights into the traditions and culture of the Sierra Nevada’s native communities. The day ends at Paso Lorenzo Camp (formerly Paraíso Teyuna) or Zhulezhy Camp, located just one hour from the Lost City. Today’s hike covers approximately 15 km and takes 8–9 hours.
Day 3 – Arrival at the Lost City
You ‘ll reach the legendary Lost City (Teyuna). After climbing its famous 1,200 stone steps, you will explore ancient terraces and archaeological remains dating back more than 1,000 years, once home to the Tayrona civilization. During the guided visit, you will learn about the site’s fascinating history while enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding jungle. After the visit, return to camp for lunch before continuing to the next campsite, where you will spend the night and enjoy a cultural exchange with the Wiwa community, learning about their traditions, worldview, and handicrafts.
Day 4 – End of the Adventure
Your unforgettable experience comes to an end as you begin the return trek to Mamey, a journey of approximately 8–9 hours. Upon arrival, enjoy a traditional homemade lunch before boarding the vehicle back to Santa Marta, taking with you lasting memories of one of Colombia’s most extraordinary adventures.
